Welcome to Dreamtime Surf - a good old fashioned, bricks and mortar surf shop. Yes, we sell wax, and wetsuits, and surfboards and leashes and all those other great things that make us a "real" surf shop! We also stock some pretty stylish clothes, footwear, and fashion accessories if looking good is your thing. But wait, there's more - we can even whip you up a mean espresso coffee to sip while we talk important stuff like boards and waves.

Founded in 2003 by Craig Dingle and Brent Larsen, keen surfers who had both fallen in love with a little surf town called Opunake. Craig brought his passion for shaping and Brent his passion for retail, and together formed a vision of creating a self sustaining business based around the industry born from their favourite pastime. From an early stage, both Craig and Brent decided that quality was key - quality products, quality advice and above all, quality service. Along with this fundamental principal, a great location, a few thousand dollars and the desire to 'make it happen', Dreamtime Surf was born.

From a dusty surfboard repair shop and a humble one room store, Dreamtime Surf has now grown to cater to surfers the length of the North Island, as well as those based locally on the World Famous 'Surf Highway'. Because we believe in 'core' surfshops, we run an onsite board repair workshop. Let us take the hassle out of repairing your board - come on in and talk to Craig 'Lord of the Dings' Dingle about getting you back into the water as soon as possible. Want to learn to surf? We'll hook you up with a lesson, kit you out with the right gear, and introduce you to an instructor whose goal is to get you riding a wave your very first lesson!

Because we want you to have a great time, we even try to line your lesson up with the optimal local surf conditions. Need a board or wetsuit? Ask us about our hire options, and for as little as $10/hr we can get you out there in the waves whenever you like. We also have some longer term options if you're need a board while you're in the country and touring around. Whether you're just cruising through, or hanging around a bit longer, grab some free wifi with a coffee and chill on the deck while you check the latest surf reports.
